Traditional Khichdi - Authentic Ayurvedic Indian Meal Kit

A traditional, aromatic Indian comfort food you can cook at home. This creamy, thick, highly nourishing classic dal made from split mung beans and basmati rice. 

Known for its soothing properties, khichdi (khichadi or kitchari) is  also part of the Ayurvedic way of life.

There are two ways to prepare khichdi: a hearty dish or as a creamy soup. The hearty version is less saucy, while the creamy version begins with more liquid. You can adjust the amount of liquid (water or broth) to your liking. See the additional insert for specific recommendations.

• May garnish with finely chopped onions and/or cilantro. 
• Stir in favorite steamed vegetables for a colorfully tasty, light meal.
• For a complete khichdi experience (optional), saute the Indian Tempering Mix (included) in hot ghee or coconut oil (ghee/oil not included) and stir into the cooked khichdi.

Serving Options:

• Add to Tempering Mix finely chopped tomatoes, onions, fresh garlic
• Can add plain yogurt, sour cream or ghee/butter
